Mashup: Concept Generation
I honestly had a lot of fun working on this assignment, it was pretty enjoyable to find objects and mesh them together in interesting ways... However, I think the hardest part was finding the objects from Thingiverse, as often there were only parts and never full objects and sometimes the files wouldn't load into Tinkercad... But it all worked out in the end and I am kinda happy with how my objects turned out.
Object #1: Space Shuttle launch from Question Mark Block
I wanted to create a scenario of a space shuttle being launched from somewhere different and that is why I chose the question mark block as it is something that you would never be able to see in real life...
Object #2 Empire State Buildings Surrounding a Cube
This is inspired by the film Inception. In that movie, there is a scene where a city get's folded at a 90 degrees angle and so I wanted to make something similar to that. Thus I decided to put the Empire State building on all sides of the cube.
Object #3 TV Snail
Object #4 City on a Game Controller
I play a lot of video games which obviously means I use a controller quite a lot. So that gave me an idea of combining a large thing with a controller and that led me to settle on a city. And that is how I got this.
Object #5 Boeing 747's Surrounding the Globe
I am an aviation enthusiast which means I like planes. And I wanted to create an object that included an airplane. So I came up with the idea of having planes flying around the globe except they have a very exaggerated size. And that is what this object is.
Object #6 Island in "3D" TV
Object #7 Futuristic Capsule Spacecraft
This is a combination of a capsule and a skyscraper that came to look like a spacecraft. That wasn't my original intention or rather there's wasn't really one, to begin with, I just combined them together to see what it looks like... Well, I do think it can also look be a boat propeller as well.
Object #8 Truck Hauling Large Piggy Banks
On numerous occasions, I have seen houses getting moved by semi-trucks so I decided to try to recreate that except with a comically large piggy bank, However, just having 1 large piggy bank seemed lacking so I decided to line them up in a similar fashion to Matryoshka dolls.
Object #9 Ice Cream Truck w/ Black Cat
Object #10 Sailbus
On Remix Culture
I think that Remix Culture is where entertainment is headed as many media that get released in present times often homage, reference, and sometimes copy what had been done in the past. For example, the film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood directed by Quentin Tarantino has many moments of recreations of old-school western movies and is described as a "love letter to film" because of all the references and callbacks to old films in the movie. I believe that Remix Culture is very interesting as since it is a mix of other things mixed into one it came to lead to some unique and interesting experiences you wouldn't get elsewhere...
